FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Don't see your question? Our team can help with facility-specific questions.

What is ADB?

Air Disinfection Biosecurity (ADB) is a proprietary Modulated Dielectric Barrier Discharge non-thermal cold-plasma technology. It continuously treats airborne and surface microbial contamination using ambient air and electricity distributed through HVAC or standalone units.

Is it safe to use in occupied spaces?

Most ADB configurations are engineered for continuous use in occupied spaces when installed, configured, operated, and maintained according to approved manufacturer instructions. PathogenFocus reports UL 2998 Zero Ozone verification for applicable systems and CARB certification for the ADB 7000 series. The ADB 7000-8MT is intended for rapid treatment in unoccupied enclosed spaces. PathogenFocus does not make health claims, and the system is not intended for use on medical devices.

Does it require chemicals or consumables?

ADB requires no added chemical treatment products and no chemical treatment consumables for routine operation. The process intentionally creates reactive oxygen compounds and peroxides inside the treatment chamber. Model-specific filters, reaction chambers, and maintenance components follow the approved service schedule for each unit.

How fast does it work?

In independent laboratory testing conducted in a 2,640-cubic-foot chamber, ADB reduced airborne SARS-CoV-2 by 90% in 16 seconds and by 99.9% in 30 seconds. Real-world results vary based on the facility, existing bioburden, target organisms, airflow, system design, and operating conditions.

Will it work with my existing HVAC?

Yes. In-duct ADB 7000-AF units integrate with existing HVAC systems. Turbine, wall-mounted, portable, and mobile-tower models provide standalone options for spaces without central air handling.

Is it compatible with organic operations?

PathogenFocus reports USDA National Organic Standards registration (number 2857) for applicable product types and Certified Halal status through Islamic Services of America for referenced configurations. Confirm the exact model and certificate scope for your application.
